WARNING: this post does not contain spoilers
Well, my first craft based income has already been spent (Pear Pie ring a bell?)... But I had to as I found an ever so worthy way to celebrate this momentous occasion: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is now mine on audio CD!
Some people, mainly former or current roommates (including friends, sister and now husband), are stumped at how I can listen to these books on repeat on a daily basis. But are they not fantastic? The reader, Jim Dale, does over 200 voices for the 7 books which alone is worth the purchase.
The much anticipated, discussed, and predicted final book was shipped to my hotel where I was
attending Moto GP at Laguna Seca with friends. I'm not sure watching guys zoom around a track at 200 mph is a good trade for devouring the final Harry Potter book, but I had a great time nonetheless, mainly due to great company and the Corkscrew on Turn 8. Panic set in however, when I started receiving calls from friends who had finished the book before I had read more than the chapter titles. Please understand that I take Harry Potter very seriously.
I could rave about Harry Potter related topics for days but that may not be very interesting to some of you Muggles. In an effort to peak your interest however, I entice you with these favorites:
Favorite Books: The Goblet of Fire OR The Deathly Hallows
Favorite Character: Fred & George Weasley (since they are twins, they count as one)
Favorite Store: Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes
Favorite Spell: Expecto Patronum (and I'd bet mine would be an elephant)
Favorite Harry Potter Websites: MuggleNet, The Leaky Cauldron, & The Harry Potter Lexicon

If I were a character, I think I'd be most like Hermione (smart and bossy with bushy hair), plus she knits... (for more information on what and how Hermione knits, please read Book Five.)
So picture me, listening to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, while knitting THIS!

HI!!! Just found your blog! Very fun! I'm still finishing my Harry Potter book (Joe finished before me, if you can believe that...) Loving it though! That is my top priority today! Finish Harry Potter before someone spills the beans and I hear or read something I'm not supposed to!!!) I take it you are a serious Harry Potter fan! :)
Ha-ha! Great post. I'm still with Brett & Kara on not exactly understanding the fascination with audio repetitions of HP...if I remember correctly, you've even been known to listen over and over again to your favorite cd within a book instead of listening to all 17 in order, but I'm glad that you have spent your hard-earned income on something that will bring you hours upon hours of contentment! Don't forget that Hagrid knits too! (Page 65, Sorcerer's Stone.) I'm still plugging through Book No. 1...
I finished it in the wee wee hours last night! LOVED it!!!! :)
Hi, found your blog from Shana's.. I also have an inexplicable ability to re-read Harry Potter ad infinitum. I don't own the CDs so can't listen but would if I could! My husband and friends whom I admit it too think I'm crazy. I almost couldn't stand the last 2 yrs of waiting... what if something happened to JKR? Too awful to think about. Anyway, LOVED the last book. Totally agree with your favorite scene. Also loved what happens with Kreacher. Have you listened to her read the first chapter? Its on most of the websites I imagine. Also here's a link for what she says happens after the epilogue... you've probably read it already :) http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/19959323/.
Glad to find out there's somebody else who shares my little obsession. But its mostly harmless right? Unless you start saying things like "this last week I was reading from chapter 11 of Deathly Hallows and was thinking about..." ;)
Hi Jamie, I was on Shana's blog and was wondering who Bricolate & Butter was so I went on your blog and printed the Magnolia Vanilla Vanilla Cupcake recipe b/4 I even knew who you were...I've only 'read' Harry Potter by listening to the CD's and have thouroughly enjoyed them. I think the English accent really gives you a better prespective rather than listening to your own lame (meaning mine) accent in your head when you read it to yourself, right??? I just had a thought,I have to get the CD now since I will be having a lot of 'seat' time (like hours!!!) on the tractor (haying). The car is the usual place I listen to audio books...so, I might as well enjoy myself rather than "sweating like a butcher"!!! Okay, keep the recipes coming, I'll be checking back every now and then...Martine Irene:):):)
The Charmed Knits is "fan"tastic!! :):) I love that you imagined what your Patronus would be too!! I did a long time ago... mine would be a dolphin! I just know it! :)
