Tea & Toast...and Fig Jam

This evening I treated myself to tea and toast (my favorite way--which is moderately toasted honey wheat bread, buttered with this, some white cheddar cheese and most any kind of jam.) This Pear and Port Jam Mom and Dad brought back from their trip...I think when they were in Texas. I've been saving it for the Fall, and I'm glad I did...it tasted perfect tonight.

Speaking of jams, this fig and date jam recipe looks pretty good...I haven't tried it yet...let me know how it goes if you do!

Ah..."Special Eating" is the best. Jean was telling me stories about how she and Carroll used to always cook fried chicken in huge quantities for the picnic. That sounds good. My other favorite Special Eating memories are my sister in law's chicken salad sandwiches and Aamie's deviled eggs which she taught me how to make when we were at their house a couple weeks ago...

I think we must add Grampie's Fudge and Grammie's Meatballs to that special eating list... that list could go on and on!

those could be added to special eating list. but not a "Special Eating" list (think about what happens in CA this time of year...opposite from May.)
