Imagination

I made this little baby quilt for a special baby that I'm dying to meet. It is actually my first finished quilt! The fabric is Denyse Schmidt's Katie Jump Rope. Check out Heather Bailey's quilt binding tutorial. I should have... maybe next time!

I love these pictures of big brother Trevor wearing the quilt as a cape... Not exactly what I envisioned but perfect nonetheless!

Have a great weekend playing!

"Amazed Me"

So tonight The Boy and I were asked to represent my workplace at a dinner benefiting the Mayor and City Council of Anaheim. Lonestar performed, and it was really fun to hear them play--they were great in concert and the crowd and venue were small enough that it was nice and mellow...well, except for the part when Michael Britt pitched his pick off the stage and it hit me in the leg. Not joking:
That woke me up! Ouch!

Prepare to be enchanted...

You know how the Bone Girls love paper products... One of my highlights of 2008 has been a letterpress and silkscreened desk calendar from Ilee that my girlfriend Mimi gave me for my birthday— it is a truly unique combination of letterpress, silkscreen, texture and even hints of glitter and foil (can it get any better? I am convinced not). A few months ago, I started stalking their etsy shop to see when the 2009 calendar would be available and today is the debut!

Photo from Ilee. And a special thanks to Mimi for the introduction

Eye Candy

Domino Magazine is one of my favorite publications but I haven't really explored them online. Until now... Love this featured Fabric on Etsy Gallery. My horizons have been broadened.

How about this one from Jezze?

Cowhide Not from a Cow

Flor tiles have always intrigued me--some of their products are brilliant and could look spectacular in the right space. I'm always interested in their latest catalog and seeing what new style they've come up with. This Fall: Stampede--very unexpected, but kinda cool!

Sown

I'm liking these pillows sewn from seed sacks, as well as the clever Etsy name.

Flash Forward

Gotta love this year's NYC Fashion Week theme--very clever. Even moreso, I'm loving the skirts and dresses and overall look of Marc by Marc Jacobs collection for next Spring. If only my pocket book were as big as los ojos...anyone feeling my pain?

Purge?

We are getting ready to move this week which is really something I despise. I'm excited about the relocating part, but really dreading the moving part. Its been good to purge (bye bye rsvp cards from our 2006 wedding...) but I really struggle with that kind of stuff. I like stuff.

So, I was horrified this week when despite my purging efforts I got 2 packages in the mail! What was I thinking? More stuff to pack! The first was from Heather Bailey's store (which, I feel better admitting, I ordered before I knew we were moving...). I cannot wait to add this pear to my collection!

The other package was from Above All Fabric, an online fabric store that I stumbled upon and have been so impressed with because of their great inventory, reasonable prices, prompt delivery, nice customer service... I know you'll like them too. I got some of this... Couldn't resist.

Natural Home Care

Several weeks ago I spotted these natural cleaning products by JR Watkins in Target and decided to try them out--now I'm hooked. All products come in Lemon, Lavender or Aloe & Green Tea. I particularly recommend the Dish Soap in Lemon. (We don't have a dishwasher, so good dish soap is important!) Just wanted to pass this on--anything to make cleaning more enjoyable, right?

Chocolate Friands

Chocolate Friands are THE BEST cure for a chocolate fix...these particular ones don't look so pretty, but next time they will. This is another recipe from my favorite baking cookbook, Tartine. Friand means "small mouthful" in French.
